SpotLog - UIC

Spotlog supports UIC number format.

UIC number formatting is used by many european railways (eg DB, SBB), numbers carried on loco's are usually in the form class-number-check digit.

Example, this DB loco is class 112, loco number 156 and the check digit is 5

See Wikipedia for more information

Entering UIC numbers in the data book

SpotLog makes adding a class with UIC numbers to the data book very simple.  From the "New Class" form:

Enter the class details, tick the "UIC" box and click the add button.

To add the loco's, click the "Add Locos" button.

For the DB class 112, the first number is  112-101-1 and the last number is 112-190-4 so the add loco's form is completed as follows:

  • Ensure the UIC box is ticked
  • Enter the UIC prefix "112" in the prefix box
  • Enter the starting individual number - "101" and ending individual number "190"
  • Click "Add"
Spotlog generates the loco numbers by adding the prefix to the individual numbers and generates the appropriate check digit:

UIC Matching

Spotlog will match UIC numbers with or without the leading "-" and with or without the check digit.  For example, all the following will match the first loco above:
  • 112-101-1
  • 112 101-1
  • 112-101
  • 112 101
If you enter the check digit in the notepad, it will be checked when spotlog tries to record the number.  If the check digit does not match the record will be flagged in red in the notepad list.
