Spotlog - Android app for rail enthusiasts

SpotLog is an android application for recording sightings of trains.  It has a notepad page and a data book for details of classes and locomotives.


There are two versions of SpotLog:  the basic version (which is free) and the premium version which has extra features.

Features:  Basic version

• Notepad for entering numbers of locos/units seen
• Data book lists classes and locomotives
• Individual records for each loco,

• Report page shows records of trains seen
• Export report of sightings, eg for given date period

Extra features for premium version

The premium version has additional features:

• Data book supports photographs and data sheet information
• Supports data records for multiple countries
• Supports alternative numbers

Spotlog Data sets

We currently have published data sets for

• UK mainline classes, include locomotive and units
• Switzerland SBB
• Switzerland MGB
• Switzerland RhB
• Switzerland ZB
• Switzerland BOB
• Eurotunnel
• SNCB (Belgium)

You can create your own definitions for other countries and/or railways within the application, or import data in XML format. 

(Data sets and the app database can both be imported and exported in XML format).


If you create a new data set for a country or railway, please share it with other users (contact mark@rail3d.net to add your dataset to the published data).  I will be pleased to supply a free copy of the premium version of the app to anyone who contributes a new dataset (or substantial corrections to existing sets).


I'd also be keen to hear from anyone who can help create and maintain a definition set for German railways.

PhotoLogger

There is also a companion PC application - PhotoLogger - that can be used to list loco numbers from photographs ready for input into the SpotLog app.
